Process
How we work: measure first, change deliberately, explain everything
Whether the engagement is a three-week assessment or a three-year partnership, the shape is the same. We establish what's true, agree on what it's worth, change one thing at a time, and show our work.
Phase 1
45 minutes
Consultation
A working session with a senior engineer, not a sales call. Bring your slowest page, your murkiest report, or the proposal you're not sure you trust. We'll look at your site together and tell you what we see.
You get: An honest read on whether and how we can help. Sometimes the answer is "you don't need us."
Phase 2
A few days to 3 weeks
Assessment
We measure before we recommend. A straightforward website may need a concise snapshot, while a complex platform or workflow may need field data, crawl analysis, accessibility review, analytics investigation, and stakeholder interviews. Opinions come last, and they come costed.
You get: A short, ranked report where every finding names its business impact, its fix, and its expected result.
Phase 3
1 week
Agreement
We scope the smallest intervention that solves the problem: a focused project, a partnership, or a handful of fixes your own team can ship with our notes. Fixed price, defined outcomes, no mystery hours.
You get: A scope you fully understand, with the success metric written down before work begins.
Phase 4
Scoped in weeks, not quarters
The work
Changes ship in small, reversible increments, measured before and after, and demonstrated in plain language as we go. No six-month silence followed by a big reveal. You'll never wonder what's happening with your website.
You get: A steady stream of shipped, verified improvements, plus documentation your next hire can follow.
Ongoing partnership
Then the tending begins
A launch is a starting point, not a finish line. Most clients continue into a fractional partnership, where improvement becomes a steady rhythm rather than an occasional emergency.
continuously
Monitoring on performance, uptime, and crawl health, so regressions surface as small anomalies, not quarterly surprises.
every 2 weeks
A shipping cycle: items leave the ranked backlog and land on your site, with before/after numbers.
monthly
The one-page report covering what changed, what it did, and what's next, plus a working call if you want one.
quarterly
A step back: strategy, roadmap, and pruning. What should this platform do next quarter that it can't do today?
Ground rules
What working with us feels like
- Plain language, always
- Every recommendation comes with the reasoning, the cost, and the number it should move, in words you can repeat to your CEO without us in the room. Jargon that keeps clients dependent is a business model; it isn't ours.
- Seniors only
- The engineer in your consultation is the engineer doing the work. No handoff to a junior team after the contract is signed, no account manager relaying messages.
- Reversible by default
- We prefer many small changes to one dramatic one. Small changes can be measured honestly and undone cheaply. Dramatic ones make good stories and bad infrastructure.
- Your platform, your keys
- You own every account, repository, and credential from day one. Good stewardship should never feel like a hostage situation. If we're worth keeping, we won't need lock-in to keep you.
Common questions
Asked often, answered honestly
Do we have to commit to an ongoing partnership?
No. Assessments and projects stand on their own, with documentation written so anyone competent can build on them. Partnerships exist because most clients ask to continue, since compounding needs continuity. But they're earned, never required.
Can you work with our existing agency or in-house team?
Yes, and we often do. A common shape: your agency handles brand and content, your team handles campaigns, and we hold the technical layer of platform, performance, and SEO foundations. We're comfortable being one instrument in the orchestra.
What does a fractional partnership cost?
Ongoing partnerships start at $3,000 per month and grow with the platforms, operating responsibility, and pace involved. You'll have an exact monthly figure before anything starts. We don't do open-ended hourly billing, because unpredictable invoices poison trust.
What platforms and stacks do you work with?
We're strongest on modern JavaScript frameworks and content-driven sites, and we're pragmatic about existing platforms, WordPress included. The recommendation follows from your team and your goals, not from what we felt like using this year.
How fast will we see SEO results?
Technical fixes show up in crawl and indexation data within weeks; ranking and traffic movement typically takes two to six months. Anyone quoting faster with confidence is guessing. We report leading indicators monthly so you can see the trajectory before the destination.
Next step
The first phase costs you 45 minutes.
A consultation is where every engagement starts, and where plenty of them honestly end, with a clear answer and no invoice. Either way, you'll know more about your website than you did going in.
